Binkenstad Bereikbaar
The challenge
An entirely new traffic plan, explained to a whole city
With Binkenstad Bereikbaar, Turnhout’s new circulation plan changes how people drive into and out of the city centre: buses no longer run through Gasthuisstraat, bus routes change, some streets switch direction and parking rules change too.
That’s a lot of moving parts at once, and each of them affects people’s daily routine. A policy document full of maps and zones doesn’t land with the average resident. The city needed to explain both why the plan was changing and what residents could expect in their daily lives.
From policy jargon to clear visuals
Starting point
An extensive policy plan with circulation maps, loops, bus lines and parking zones.
Result
One clear explainer video that shows step by step what changes, why, and what it means for you.
How we approached it
Insight
Together with Billie Bonkers and the city, we mapped out what residents need to know and remember.
Story
We built the story as a walk through the city: from the reasons behind the plan to the changes residents will see.
Form
A warm, illustrated city instead of dry maps.
Creation
Illustration, animation, voice-over and subtitles, ready for the website, social media and information sessions.

Our choices
Recognisable, calm and honest
A new traffic circulation plan raises questions and sometimes resistance. That is why we chose a calm, factual tone without sales talk. The animation shows what changes and why, and lets viewers see the logic for themselves.
